March 2004 - What if we could promise you a warm afternoon filled with fun, entertainment and a tour of Pittsburgh’s South Side all while helping people in need? Donald Splitstone and Kimberly Hanley will be hosting the first “Fill the Mug” bar crawl through the South Side area of Pittsburgh to benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society on Saturday, May 1, 2004 from 12 noon until 6 PM. |
 |
The festivities will commence at Shootz Café and will travel down East Carson Street to The Lava Lounge, The Tiki Lounge, Jekyl & Hydes, and many more bars on the way to Barry’s. The first 200 registrants will receive a free commemorative beer mug and there will be prizes and giveaways throughout the afternoon. All that is needed to join in the fun is the $30 dollar registration donation.
The bar crawl is to help raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society through Team in Training (TNT). TNT is a fundraising program offered by The Society that helps train people to run or walk a full or half marathon, cycle a century ride, or complete a triathlon. Splitstone and Hanley need to fundraise a combined total of $11,500 for the events in which they will participate. Both of them will be riding in “America’s Most Beautiful Bike Ride” in Lake Tahoe, Nevada. The 100-mile course is considered highly challenging. Splitstone will also be competing in the “Memphis in May” triathlon in Memphis, Tennessee. Here, he will complete a 1.5k swim, 40k cycle, and a 10k run.
